Strategies for human intervention in the natural environment

urbanism in space?

- search for planet with both oxygen and water, hopefully with own food sources, but at least capable of sustaining life.
- for planets without?

creation of habitat life support, basically some type of space station, with total recycling.. try to achieve total independance in space... through recycling of materials, even the space station/ship should be capable of infinate repairs... how? intergalactic service stations with mining, and metal factories..(?) colonies..

how to obtain oxygen?.. how to sustain life?
is it viable to populate space? we cant take any from here.. we need it!

and when we do (note i didnt say if), when we do what sort of space junk urbanism are we instore for? what would it be like to live on one of saturns moons? are we too dependant on earth? i mean after all, we cant sustain human life on this planet forever.
